Heavy rain and strong winds are set to batter the UK over the coming days, with the Met Office issuing warnings for widespread disruption across the country as unsettled weather takes hold.
England's North West, South West, and parts of the Midlands will bear the brunt of the rainfall, with 30-50mm expected to fall within 24 hours. Coastal areas of the South West face wind gusts of up to 60mph, creating hazardous driving conditions. Despite temperatures ranging between 10-14°C, strong winds will make it feel considerably colder.
Scotland faces the most severe conditions, with the Highlands and Islands bracing for gusts exceeding 70mph in very exposed locations. Western Scotland will see the heaviest rainfall, whilst temperatures drop to 7-11°C across the country.
Northern Ireland will experience heavy showers and strong winds, with coastal areas particularly vulnerable to gusts of up to 55mph. Localised flooding is possible, with temperatures expected between 8-12°C.
Wales will not escape the harsh conditions. The Brecon Beacons and Snowdonia could see rainfall totals reaching 40-60mm, whilst coastal areas face winds of 50-55mph. Temperatures will range between 9-13°C.
Residents across all affected regions are urged to secure loose garden items, check local flood risk information, and allow extra time for journeys. Particular caution is advised around surface water flooding on roads, especially in low-lying areas.
Drivers should reduce speed and maintain safe distances, whilst pedestrians should avoid coastal paths and walking under trees during strong winds. Homeowners in flood-prone areas may wish to prepare sandbags or other flood protection measures.
The Met Office will continue updating warnings as conditions develop, with residents encouraged to stay informed through official channels.
