The Met Office has issued a heatwave warning as temperatures are set to soar in 13 counties across the UK. The affected areas include parts of England, Scotland, Wales, and Northern Ireland.
According to the Met Office, temperatures are expected to reach up to 32C in some areas, with the heatwave forecast to last until the end of the week. This extreme heat is expected to cause widespread disruption, with residents advised to stay cool and hydrated at all times.
The Met Office has warned that the heatwave could lead to an increased risk of heat-related illnesses, particularly for vulnerable individuals such as the elderly and young children. Residents are advised to stay indoors during the hottest part of the day, and to take regular breaks in cool, shaded areas.
The Met Office has also advised residents to stay hydrated by drinking plenty of water and other non-caffeinated fluids. Residents are also advised to check on vulnerable neighbours and friends, particularly the elderly and those with pre-existing medical conditions.
The affected counties include parts of Devon, Cornwall, and Somerset in England; the Scottish Highlands; and parts of Conwy and Denbighshire in Wales. In Northern Ireland, the affected area includes parts of County Fermanagh.
Residents are advised to stay up to date with the latest weather forecast and to follow all safety advice from the Met Office.
