Average house prices across the UK rose by 0.7% between June and July 2026. This contributes to an annual increase of 1.4% in the year to July 2026, bringing the average property value to £273,000.
In England, house prices saw a monthly rise of 0.7% and an annual increase of 1.1%, with the average property valued at £293,000. Regionally, the East Midlands recorded the most significant monthly increase at 1.7%, while the South West experienced a monthly fall of 0.2%.
The North East saw the greatest annual price rise in England, up by 4.9%. Conversely, London recorded the lowest annual price growth, with a decrease of 3.3%, and its average property price stands at £550,000. London also saw the highest number of repossession sales.
Wales experienced a 1% monthly increase in house prices and an annual rise of 2.6%, making the average property value £215,000. The estimated number of residential property transactions in the UK for July 2026 was 97,000, a 1.1% decrease from July 2025.
