The British High Commission in Kuala Lumpur has issued an invitation to tender for research institutions, think tanks, and consulting firms. The invitation seeks proposals for a study to identify opportunities for UK engagement in the Northern Region of Peninsular Malaysia.

This region includes the states of Perlis, Kedah, Penang, and Perak. The initiative aligns with the UK government's growth agenda, aiming to strengthen economic resilience, support the green transition, and promote international partnerships.

The study is intended to support regional economic development priorities and create mutually beneficial partnerships involving UK institutions, businesses, investors, universities, and public-sector organisations. The maximum budget for this research project is £15,000, and all deliverables must be submitted by 31 January 2027.

Tenders need to be submitted by 11:59pm (Malaysia time) on 21 August 2026.
