Much of the UK is set to feel cooler from Tuesday, 15 September 2026, as more changeable weather moves in. Parts of the UK are also likely to see spells of rain, particularly in northern and western areas.
Maximum temperatures across the UK are forecast to be between 17 and 22C, approximately five degrees lower than Monday's values. This is closer to the average for this time of year. Overnight temperatures could drop to 8-12C.
A drier and brighter interlude is expected on Wednesday, with the rest of the week remaining unsettled with further rain. Temperatures will stay around 15 to 20C. By Saturday, a west or south-westerly wind may bring slightly warmer conditions, with temperatures returning to above average, especially in south-eastern areas. However, a September heatwave is considered increasingly unlikely.
