The UK government plans to continue applying economic pressure on Iran, working alongside the US and other international partners. Chancellor of the Exchequer John Healey stated that the government has imposed over 240 sanctions on Iran since taking office.

The sanctions are aimed at preventing the Iranian regime from exploiting the global economy and abusing the UK financial system. This is intended to counter Iran's nuclear programme and other activities described as destabilising.

The UK supports US efforts to achieve a diplomatic solution and welcomes initiatives to increase pressure, such as Operation Economic Outcast. The government also called on Iran to cease its destabilising activities, including in the Strait of Hormuz, and to engage in diplomatic discussions.
