The Met Office has issued yellow weather warnings for heavy rain and strong winds, which are expected to affect much of the UK over the next 48 hours. A low-pressure system is moving across the country, bringing with it heavy rain and gusty winds.
The worst of the weather is expected to hit the north west of England, where residents can expect to see heavy rain and winds of up to 60mph. The Met Office has warned that the rain could cause flooding in some areas, and drivers are advised to take extra care on the roads.
Scotland and Northern Ireland are also expected to see heavy rain and strong winds, with the Met Office warning of potential disruptions to transport and power supplies. Wales is expected to see some of the strongest winds, with gusts of up to 70mph possible in some areas.
Residents are advised to take precautions to stay safe, including securing any loose outdoor items and staying indoors if possible. The Met Office has also warned that the strong winds could cause power cuts, and people are advised to have a plan in place in case of an emergency.
The Met Office's chief meteorologist, Neil Armstrong, said: 'The low-pressure system is expected to bring heavy rain and strong winds to the UK, with the worst of the weather hitting the north west of England.'
The weather warnings are in place until 6pm on Wednesday, and residents are advised to stay up to date with the latest forecast and any updates from the Met Office.
