The UK has welcomed the OSCE Parliamentary Assembly's (PA) continued focus on key security challenges, particularly its support for Ukraine. Ambassador Holland, in a statement to the President of the OSCE Parliamentary Assembly, noted the PA's robust condemnation of Russia's violations of international law and OSCE principles.
The statement highlighted the PA's efforts to raise awareness regarding the detention of three OSCE officials – Dmytro Shabanov, Vadym Golda, and Maksym Petrov – by Russia. The UK joined calls for their immediate and unconditional release and pledged continued support for efforts to secure their freedom.
The UK also acknowledged the Assembly's role in election observation, citing its engagement in missions in Kazakhstan, Armenia, Hungary, and an upcoming mission in Bosnia and Herzegovina. This work is seen as strengthening confidence in democratic processes.
