A Ukrainian drone attack on the city of Nizhnekamsk in Russia’s Tatarstan region has killed 12 people and wounded 39 others, Russian authorities reported. The city, situated approximately 1,000 kilometers within Russia, is home to a significant oil refinery, a facility previously targeted by the Ukrainian army in June.
Russia stated it intercepted 456 Ukrainian drones, but did not specify how many reached their intended targets. Ukraine's President Volodymyr Zelenskyy, in an address on Sunday, linked ongoing strikes on oil refining facilities to increasing pressure on Moscow. He asserted that the conflict continues due to "Russia’s unwillingness to end this war."
Agencies described this incident as one of Kyiv’s deadliest attacks since the full-scale war began in 2022. Separately, at least five people died in a Russian artillery strike on the residential area of Bugaivka in Ukraine's Kharkiv region on August 10, according to the regional prosecutor’s office.
