The UK's largest Harry Potter shop is set to open on London's Oxford Street this November, Warner Bros has confirmed. The flagship store, which will cover more than 21,000 sq ft over two floors, is scheduled to open on 4 November within The Ribbon development at 134-140 Oxford Street.
Inspired by the magical shopping street Diagon Alley, the store will include a dragon towering over Gringotts bank, a full-sized Knight Bus, and The Leaky Cauldron pub, where visitors can enjoy food and Butterbeer drinks.
This new location will be the second official Harry Potter retail destination in the UK, following the existing site at King's Cross Station. Karl Durrant, Warner Bros senior vice-president of worldwide retail, described opening the shop in London as "a truly special milestone."
The New West End Company has hailed the store as a "great example" of an "immersive and leisure experience" for the nation's high street. Rachel McCulloch from the New West End Company noted that the retail landscape is shifting towards immersive leisure experiences that cannot be replicated online.
