Harold, a tabby cat, has achieved celebrity status at the University of Sheffield, where he was first encountered in 2022. Initially known for entering student flats in the halls of residence to find leftover food, Harold would often seek out snacks like tuna, cheese, or pancakes.
With over 4,000 students in the area, Harold was a popular presence, reportedly choosing a different student home each night. Despite managers advising against letting the cat into flats, some students, including a former residence mentor, occasionally allowed him in.
Today, Harold maintains his campus celebrity status, boasting 10,000 followers on Instagram as 'Harold the cat of Endcliffe', named after the halls where he was found. He is frequently seen posing for students and has taken on a part-time role guarding the doors of the village shop.
