US Air Force bombers have been pulled from RAF Fairford and redeployed to their home bases in the US. This follows an investigation into an alleged planned terror attack at the Gloucestershire base.

A Pentagon official, who spoke anonymously, confirmed on Sunday that the bombers had returned to the US. A Pentagon spokesperson later acknowledged that all US bombers deployed to RAF Fairford had re-deployed to their home stations.

The redeployment comes after a dual British-Iranian national was arrested in central London last week on suspicion of plotting a terror attack. This arrest followed a security incident at RAF Fairford in late September. Six individuals have been taken into custody and subsequently released on bail during the investigation. British authorities have linked the incident to Tehran, though Iran has denied involvement.

RAF Fairford, located 100 miles west of London, has been utilised by American bombers for decades during conflicts in the Middle East.
