The US Open will feature the largest prize fund in Grand Slam history, totalling $108 million, a 20% increase from the previous year.

  • The US Open prize fund is $108 million (£79.2m), a 20% increase from last year.
  • Singles champions will each receive $5.5m (£4.03m), a 10% increase.
  • First-round losers will take home $140,000 (£102,667), a 27% increase.

The US Open is set to offer the biggest prize fund in Grand Slam history, with a total of $108 million (£79.2m) available. This marks a 20% increase compared to last year's prize money.

Singles champions will each receive $5.5 million (£4.03m), representing a 10% increase from 2025. Players eliminated in the first round will take home $140,000 (£102,667), which is $30,000 and 27% more than last year.

The prize pool also includes a $2 million (£1.47m) contribution to a welfare fund, a demand made by leading players. The four Grand Slam tournaments have also announced the formation of a Grand Slam Player Council, another key request from players.

The US Tennis Association (USTA) chief executive, Craig Tiley, described the offer as "a significant first step in a multi-year investment in athletes." The US Open is scheduled to begin on Sunday, 30 August.

Why this matters: The increased prize money and establishment of a player council address long-standing player demands regarding financial compensation and welfare across Grand Slam tournaments.
