The US Senate on Wednesday unanimously passed a resolution declaring its opposition to any presidential pardon for Ghislaine Maxwell. Maxwell is currently serving a 20-year prison sentence for sex-trafficking crimes related to Jeffrey Epstein.

The resolution, introduced by Senator Jacky Rosen, a Democrat of Nevada, states that Maxwell “should not be granted a Presidential pardon or any form of clemency for her crimes with Jeffrey Epstein relating to the sexual exploitation and abuse of minors”.

While Senate resolutions are non-binding, Rosen's office stated in February that the measure was intended to formally record the Senate's opposition to the prospect of a pardon or clemency for Maxwell. Acting Attorney General Todd Blanche told lawmakers in May that he would not recommend a pardon for Maxwell.
