PFL lightweight world champion Usman Nurmagomedov is set to decide his future "very soon" after becoming a free agent. His cousin and coach, Khabib Nurmagomedov, stated that negotiations regarding his next move will occur "over the next month".

Nurmagomedov, 28, recently knocked out American Archie Colgan in New York to retain his title in the final fight of his PFL contract. He is undefeated with 22 victories and is widely considered one of the biggest talents outside the UFC.

The end of his contract coincides with a new chapter for the PFL, which merged with Most Valuable Promotions (MVP) last week. Nurmagomedov has previously questioned his future with the PFL and made references to fighter pay in his post-fight interview, stating, "MVP, they always trash talk about Dana saying he doesn't pay - now we're gonna see how they're gonna pay."
