Microsoft has announced increased prices for its Xbox Series X/S consoles across the UK and Europe. This marks the second price rise for Xbox consoles in 18 months, with some models now costing up to £170 more.
The new pricing structure sees the Xbox Series S (512GB) rise from £299.99 to £429.99, and the 1TB version from £349.99 to £519.99. The Xbox Series X (1TB, Digital) increases from £449.99 to £619.99, while the Xbox Series X (1TB, Disc) goes from £499.99 to £669.99.
Microsoft stated last month that another price increase was hoped to be unnecessary, but console storage and memory prices have risen significantly. The company noted that consoles are typically not sold at a profit, unlike other consumer devices.
Fans have expressed strong reactions to the price adjustments, with some calling them “laughably outrageous” on social media platforms like Reddit. Other console manufacturers, including Nintendo and Sony, have also increased prices for their devices this year.
