Matt Donohue and his assistant, Blake Antrobus, have been informed by Pro Ref that they will not receive appointments for the upcoming round of Premier League fixtures next weekend.
Chief refereeing officer Howard Webb and his management team made the decision following a review of the weekend's matches. Their availability for future games will be reconsidered after the international break.
During the Manchester derby, Donohue overturned referee Michael Oliver's initial decision to disallow Haaland's 60th-minute goal for offside. While semi-automated offside technology confirmed Haaland was onside, the VAR official reportedly failed to notice that Enzo Fernández had influenced play from an offside position. Pro Ref stated this infringement should have prompted a recommendation for an on-field review, acknowledging it as an "error of judgment" to Manchester United.
