Crevan, an island in the Venice lagoon, is currently on the market. The island, which is slightly smaller than a standard football pitch, features a Napoleonic fort and lush gardens.
Built in 1806 by the French military, Crevan was originally a strategic outpost to defend the northern Venetian lagoon. After years of neglect, it was acquired by a private owner and its buildings were restored as residential properties.
The island's prominent Napoleonic fort has been converted into a small villa with four bedrooms. It is surrounded by manicured lawns, vegetable and fruit gardens, and trees. Crevan also includes a private mooring and a helipad.
Several top property agencies, including Lionard Luxury Real Estate and Dimora Italian Real Estate, an affiliate of Christie’s International, have listed Crevan for sale. The asking price is being kept confidential for interested buyers.
Dimitri Corti, founder and chief executive of Lionard Luxury Real Estate, described Crevan as offering "the privilege of withdrawing from the world without ever leaving the universal allure of Venice."
