Alverca, a Portuguese club co-owned by Real Madrid star Vinícius Júnior, has made a significant impact in the country's top football division. After achieving back-to-back promotions, the club reached the top flight in 2025.
Vinícius Júnior joined a group of investors who purchased Alverca in February 2025. The club's sporting director, Fernando Malta, describes Vinícius as the club's "most famous fan," with his agent Thassilo "Tata" Soares as the majority shareholder. Real Madrid teammate Eduardo Camavinga and singer Travis Scott also provide "communication and marketing" services.
Last season saw Alverca undertake a drastic squad overhaul, making 35 signings – a record in Portuguese football. Despite expectations of relegation, the team, which included players like Golden Boy nominee Bastien Meupiyou, finished 11th in the league.
Alverca's strategy focuses on developing and selling players, with Malta stating the club's main objectives are staying in the top division and player sales. The club leverages scouting in talent-rich regions like Île-de-France and Brazil to find young prospects.
