Virgin Atlantic engineer dies in Heathrow Airport accident

A Virgin Atlantic engineer has died after sustaining serious injuries while working on a commercial aircraft at Heathrow Airport.

A Virgin Atlantic engineer, Georgie Buxton, has died following an accident at Heathrow Airport. He is believed to have been seriously injured while carrying out maintenance work on a Boeing 787-9 Dreamliner and later died in hospital.

Virgin Atlantic confirmed the death of a "much-loved" member of its engineering team, stating it was "heartbroken" and working with authorities to establish what happened. The airline added that its thoughts are with Mr Buxton's family, loved ones, friends, and colleagues.

The Metropolitan Police and the Health and Safety Executive (HSE) have begun a joint investigation into the incident. An inquest is also due to be opened into his death.
