Virgin Atlantic has been appointed the official airline for Team GB and ParalympicsGB at the LA 2028 Olympics. This new partnership marks the end of British Airways' 20-year role as the official carrier for the teams.
Under the agreement, Virgin Atlantic will be responsible for transporting athletes and staff to and from the Games in Los Angeles. Additionally, Virgin Atlantic Holidays will serve as the official holiday partner, providing sports fans with specially designed trips to California for the event.
Sir Richard Branson, whose carrier secured the deal, expressed his enthusiasm for being a part of the teams' journey. Dame Katherine Grainger, chair of Team GB, highlighted the importance of Virgin Atlantic's support for the team's travel and celebrations.
David Clarke, CEO of ParalympicsGB, stated that the partnership will also involve collaboration to enhance the accessibility and inclusivity of air travel.
