Which? experts have taste-tested a range of supermarket brunch items, identifying several 'Best Buys' for consumers. Waitrose Essential Hazelnut Chocolate Spread achieved the highest score of 82%, with nearly three-quarters of tasters praising its chocolate and hazelnut flavour strength and consistency.
Aldi Brooklea Greek Style Yoghurt was a joint-highest scorer among yoghurts, receiving 77% and a 'Great Value' badge. It is available in a 1kg size for £1.49, making it one of the cheapest options tested. Aldi Bramwells baked beans also scored 77% and were noted for being a 'Great Value' alternative at 40p for 410g.
Other top-scoring items included Lidl Deluxe Pork Sausages (73%), praised for their pork flavour and seasoning, and Co-op Irresistible Hand Finished White Sourdough (73%), which tasters liked for its excellent texture. Co-op On The Side Real Mayonnaise (74%) and Waitrose Essential Tomato Ketchup (77%) were also highlighted as 'Best Buys'.
For coffee, Marks and Spencer Gold Instant Coffee scored 70% and was one of two coffees tested with a Fairtrade logo. M&S Collection Nocellara Del Belice Extra Virgin Olive Oil scored 75% and was described as balanced and fruity.
