Wales head coach Steve Tandy is reportedly assessing his scrum-half options ahead of the 2027 World Cup in Australia. This comes as Kieran Hardy, one of the two scrum-halves who have shared matchday squads with Tomos Williams under Tandy, faces a lengthy lay-off due to a knee injury.
Tomos Williams, a 2025 British and Irish Lions tourist, is considered a secure starter for Wales. He has started every Test he has been available for since Tandy took charge in summer 2025, playing past the hour mark in every outing.
Tandy is expected to name his Nations Championship squad on Tuesday, and a new inclusion at scrum-half is anticipated. This could provide more opportunities for Reuben Morgan-Williams, who has made three appearances off the bench under Tandy. Other potential options include Dragons scrum-half Che Hope, who has returned this season after a hamstring injury, and veteran Gareth Davies, who retired from Test rugby in 2024 but is still playing for Scarlets.
