Wales are looking to continue their Women's World Cup qualifying campaign by progressing to a play-off final, following an unconvincing 1-0 win against Albania in the first leg of their semi-final.
The team returns to Llanelli on Tuesday for the second leg, aiming to replicate their strong home performances during the group stage. Captain Angharad James stated, "The most important thing was getting the result, the clean sheet and taking that back to Llanelli on Tuesday."
Despite the win, Wales' performance in Albania mirrored previous away games, where they secured positive results despite underwhelming displays. The decisive goal came from an Ezmiralda Franja own goal following a Lily Woodham corner.
Head coach Rhian Wilkinson acknowledged the "hard day" but highlighted the importance of finding a way to win. Midfielder Rachel Rowe added, "We rode the game out. I'm really proud of the girls. We go into Tuesday confident and with areas to improve on."
If Wales advance, they are likely to face Norway in a two-legged play-off final in December. The team also has the opportunity to set a new national record for unbeaten matches, currently standing at nine.
