North Shropshire faces a dramatic weather turnaround from mid-May, with temperatures set to soar to 20°C after weeks of unsettled conditions across the UK.
The Met Office forecasts a decisive shift towards warmer, drier weather from Thursday 16th May onwards. Daily temperatures could reach the high teens, with some areas hitting 20°C - a stark contrast to the recent cool, wet spell that has gripped the region.
The improvement comes as high pressure systems replace the low pressure that has brought persistent rain and cooler air to much of Britain. North Shropshire is amongst the areas expected to benefit most, alongside southern and central England, where temperatures will climb and rainfall will ease significantly.
However, the weather divide remains stark across the UK. Northern and western regions, including parts of Scotland and Northern Ireland, may still face intermittent showers and cooler spells whilst other areas bask in warmer conditions. Light to moderate winds, typically below 15mph, will add to the feeling of warmth for those areas seeing the improvement.
The Met Office cautions that isolated showers cannot be ruled out entirely, particularly during the early stages of the transition. But meteorologists remain optimistic about the overall trend, offering hope to residents weary of the prolonged damp and cool weather that has dominated recent weeks.
