Warwickshire are poised to clinch their ninth County Championship title after a dominant third day at Edgbaston. Despite a brief delay due to bad light, captain Ed Barnard and Sam Hain steered their side towards a commanding position against Leicestershire.
Hain was the last man out for a superb 142, following Barnard's 88. In response, Leicestershire struggled in fading light, ending the day on 55-3 and still adrift by 192 runs. Warwickshire are now expected to secure the 2026 trophy on Saturday.
Elsewhere, Somerset's title aspirations faded after failing to secure a third bowling bonus point against Surrey. Nottinghamshire's Olly Stone took five wickets against Yorkshire, but was reportedly withdrawn from the match due to a hamstring injury.
