Warwickshire have clinched their ninth County Championship title, overcoming Leicestershire by an innings and 79 runs at Edgbaston. The Bears secured the victory on day three, taking the final seven Leicestershire wickets needed for the triumph.
Top wicket-taker Ethan Bamber fittingly claimed the final scalp, finishing with 5-52 in the second innings and match figures of 9-94. He was well supported by former England all-rounder Chris Woakes, who took 3-38.
This three-day win marks Warwickshire's first county title since 2021 and their fourth in the 21st century. Leicestershire's Tom Scriven hit 49, helping the relegation-bound Foxes extend the game into the afternoon session.
Warwickshire's late-season surge saw them win five of their last six matches, with three of those victories coming by an innings. This impressive run followed a challenging start to the season where they won only twice in their opening eight fixtures.
