South East Water has restored drinking water supplies to approximately 7,400 properties in Kent, following disruptions affecting over 8,000 customers. Around 400 properties in specific areas continue to experience low pressure or no water.

  • Around 7,400 properties in Kent have had their drinking water supplies restored.
  • Approximately 400 properties in Benenden, Cranbrook, and Rolvenden still face low pressure or no water.
  • South East Water attributes the disruptions to prolonged hot weather, high demand, pipe bursts, and power issues.

Drinking water supplies have been restored to about 7,400 properties in Kent that had been experiencing no water or low pressure, according to South East Water (SEW). More than 8,000 customers were initially affected by the latest supply disruptions.

SEW stated that the disruptions were a result of prolonged hot weather, high demand, pipe bursts, and power issues. Mike Court, South East Water incident manager, confirmed earlier that supplies had been restored to homes in Herne Bay, Rough Common, and Blean.

However, approximately 400 properties in the Benenden, Cranbrook, and Rolvenden areas are still experiencing low pressure or no water. Properties in Herne Bay might also experience "intermittent supplies" later. Residents had previously been informed that it could take a couple of days for their water supplies to be restored, with some having faced days of disruption.

A bottled water station has reopened in Cranbrook, identified as one of the worst-affected areas alongside Benenden. Mike Court urged customers to continue using water for essential purposes only, as water levels within the drinking water storage tank supplying the area remain critically low.

What this means for you: If you are in Benenden, Cranbrook, Rolvenden, or potentially Herne Bay, you may still be experiencing low pressure, no water, or intermittent supplies. South East Water is urging all customers to continue using water for essential uses only.
