Alphabet-owned Waymo has expanded its robotaxi service to include teenagers aged 13 to 17 in Nashville. This move aims to broaden its customer base by targeting a new demographic of riders.
Nashville is the second city to introduce Waymo teen accounts, following the launch of the programme in Phoenix last year. A Waymo spokesperson indicated to TechCrunch that this expansion to Nashville is expected to be the "first of many" teen launches in various markets using the Waymo app in the coming months, provided operations are mature and local regulations permit.
Waymo initiated its service in Nashville in April 2026 within a 50-square-mile area, and its robotaxis became available on the Lyft app earlier in September 2026. Teen accounts allow users to hail autonomous rides anywhere within Waymo's Nashville service area and can bring up to three guests aged 13 to 17, although the company did not specify how these ages would be verified. The teen account must be connected to a parent or guardian.
