Heavy rain and winds gusting up to 40mph will batter the West Midlands this week, with the Met Office warning residents to prepare for travel disruption and potential flooding.
The unsettled conditions will persist through much of the week across areas including West Bromwich, with temperatures ranging between 10°C and 14°C. Despite the mild readings, strong wind chill will make it feel considerably cooler during blustery spells.
Across the UK, Scotland and Northern Ireland face significant rainfall, with wintry showers possible at higher elevations. Southern England and Wales will see drier spells between showers, though strong winds remain a common threat nationwide.
The Met Office has urged caution, particularly for motorists, as heavy downpours could cause localised surface water flooding on roads. Journey times will increase and driving conditions could become hazardous.
Residents should secure loose garden furniture, check local flood alerts, and allow extra time for travel. Pedestrians face risks from strong gusts that could bring down small branches or make walking difficult.
Whilst no severe amber or red warnings have been issued for the West Midlands, the persistent unsettled weather means conditions could deteriorate. Yellow warnings for rain or wind may be introduced if forecasts intensify.
