West of Scotland bus fares capped at £2 from Monday

Bus fares in the west of Scotland will be capped at £2 from Monday, First Minister John Swinney has announced. This cap will apply to journeys in Glasgow, Renfrewshire, Ayrshire, Dunbartonshire, Lanarkshire and Inverclyde.
The announcement was made as part of Swinney's programme for government, which also includes plans to reduce Scotland's health boards from 14 to two. This proposed change is intended to free up more time and capacity for treatment, with work on the proposal having started last November.
Swinney also stated a commitment that by 2031, no patient will wait longer than 26 weeks for necessary treatment. Other announcements include the introduction of a misogyny bill and a public health campaign to challenge misogynistic attitudes.
