Where was 'Ride or Die' filmed? Czech Republic hotspots revealed

Prime Video's new comedy-thriller 'Ride or Die' starring Hannah Waddingham and Octavia Spencer was filmed in Prague and other Czech locations. Here's where British viewers can spot the landmarks and what it means for travel to the region.

  • Filming took place in Prague between February and June 2025
  • Key locations include Hospital Na Františku, Old Town streets and Jan Palach Square
  • Star Bill Nighy praised Prague, saying he would 'like to go back there as a citizen'

Prime Video's new comedy-thriller series Ride or Die, which landed on the streaming service this month, was shot largely in the Czech Republic — and British viewers may recognise several Prague landmarks in the show's chase sequences.

The series follows Judith Burton (Hannah Waddingham), a highly skilled assassin posing as a forensic accountant, and her best friend Debbie (Octavia Spencer), who are forced on a perilous road trip across Europe after a dangerous figure from Judith's past resurfaces. Bill Nighy co-stars as The Director, a Cold War-era espionage mastermind.

Production took place between February and June 2025, primarily in Prague, according to location reports. The final scenes were filmed in the historic centre, with crews taking over the vicinity of Hospital Na Františku, streets in the Old Town and Jan Palach Square. The city's Gothic spires and cobbled lanes provide a picturesque backdrop to the duo's frantic escape.

Speaking to The Upcoming during filming, Nighy said he had never visited Prague before but fell in love with the city. 'I would like to go back there as a citizen, but I doubt that I will, as I always think that when I go to places I like and I never go back because I'm always working,' he said.

For British travellers inspired to visit the filming locations, Prague remains a popular short-haul destination. Several UK airports — including London Heathrow, Gatwick, Stansted, Manchester and Edinburgh — offer direct flights to Václav Havel Airport Prague, with return fares typically starting from around £50–£80 depending on the season. The UK Foreign, Commonwealth & Development Office (FCDO) currently advises normal precautions for travel to the Czech Republic, with no specific warnings against visiting Prague. British passport holders do not need a visa for tourist stays of up to 90 days within a 180-day period, as the Czech Republic is part of the Schengen Area.

Travel insurance is strongly recommended for any trip abroad. Standard policies covering medical expenses, lost luggage and trip cancellation are widely available for European destinations. Visitors should also check that their policy includes cover for any planned activities, such as guided walking tours of the Old Town or boat trips on the Vltava River. The Czech Republic uses the Czech koruna (CZK), though many tourist spots in Prague accept card payments.

Why this matters: Prague is a top weekend-break destination for UK travellers, and the series showcases lesser-known corners of the city that could boost tourism. The production also highlights the Czech Republic's growing appeal as a filming location for major streaming series.

What this means for you: What this means for you: If you're planning a trip to Prague, you can now add filming locations from Ride or Die to your itinerary. Direct flights from UK airports cost from around £50 return, and no visa is needed for short stays.
