Music enthusiasts and charity supporters in the UK have a chance to own a unique piece of music memorabilia while contributing to a crucial cause. Signed Bowers & Wilkins speakers from rock legends Robert Plant, indie darlings Wolf Alice, and acclaimed band Foals are being offered in a special prize draw, with all proceeds benefiting the charity War Child UK.
Entries for the separate prize draws opened on Monday, 24th June, with each entry costing £5. There is no limit to the number of times an individual can enter, increasing the chances of winning one of these coveted items. The initiative highlights the long-standing support these artists have shown for both independent record shops and charitable causes.
Foals frontman Yannis Philippakis expressed the tangible impact of War Child's work, stating that the charity provides safety, education, and recovery opportunities for children amidst conflict. Robert Plant, a recipient of the Record Store Legend Award, also championed the charity, describing it as a 'lifeline' for children facing unimaginable hardships in turbulent times.
This collaboration builds on previous charitable efforts by the artists. Both Foals and Ellie Rowsell of Wolf Alice recently contributed tracks to War Child's 'Help(2)' album, a follow-up to the landmark 1995 'Help' record. Produced by James Ford, 'Help(2)' featured a stellar line-up including Arctic Monkeys and Depeche Mode, released during a period of extreme global crises.
War Child UK has dedicated over three decades to protecting, educating, and supporting the mental health of children affected by war. The funds raised from this prize draw will directly contribute to their ongoing efforts in conflict zones such as Palestine, Ukraine, Sudan, and Syria.
The prize draws will conclude at 23:59 on Sunday, 27th July, with winners contacted shortly after. It is important to note that participation is restricted to UK residents only.
