Police in Ontario, Canada, have charged a 34-year-old woman with 65 offences, including fraud and theft, for allegedly stealing from patients and staff at several healthcare centres in the province. Nassim Eronn, from Burlington, faces charges that include 34 counts of fraud under $5,000 (£3,800) and 13 counts of theft under $5,000.
The Ontario Provincial Police (OPP) stated that the investigation began following multiple reports of theft and fraud within healthcare facilities. The alleged incidents under investigation started in February 2024 and continued until last month, with the suspect having worked at health centres across the province.
The investigation expanded after an initial report in May concerning theft at Orillia Soldiers' Memorial Hospital. Five healthcare facilities are covered by the investigation, with alleged incidents occurring between July 2024 and September 2026 at various locations. Police executed multiple search warrants and seized significant amounts of property.
It remains unclear what the suspect's specific duties were at the hospitals. Investigators believe there may be additional victims and have encouraged the public to come forward with relevant information after checking their financial records for any suspicious transactions.
