A woman has described how birds began behaving strangely towards her after her husband died in January 2023. She noted that on her daily walks, birds approached her closely, hopped alongside her, and chirped.
She had walked on a heath near her home with her husband for years, but he could not walk with her during his final months due to illness. She stated that the birds had paid no attention to her during the six months she walked alone before his death.
The woman recounted an instance where a robin followed her home, hopping alongside her for an unusually long time. She also described a young magpie appearing and perching on a banister near her in a French village three months after her husband's death, squawking and flapping its wings.
She now relates to the natural world differently, sensing it as company, and observes an urban fox, a mouse, and green parakeets near her home.
