An Australian woman, adopted from Vietnam in 1975, discovered she had a twin brother in July 2024. She was 49 years old at the time of the discovery, which came after her daughter checked DNA test results.
The woman arrived in Adelaide in April 1975 as an infant, part of the American-led Operation Babylift, which saw thousands of orphaned children evacuated from Vietnam. Her parents adopted her after seeing an advert from the Australian government seeking families.
In early 2024, she took a new DNA test for a TV show that subsequently lost funding. Months later, in July, her daughter checked the results, revealing a brother named Glenn. Further investigation showed he was born in April, the same month she arrived in Australia, confirming they were twins.
After a phone call in November 2024, the twins met two months later. She expressed anger that no one has taken responsibility for their separation from their birth parents.
