Sally Pearson, 31, and Shannon Dodds, 32, were sentenced at Portsmouth Crown Court after admitting to assaulting police officers during a protest at the former Haslar naval base in Gosport on 22 September.

Ms Pearson pleaded guilty to assaulting a police officer and racially aggravated harassment. The court heard she punched an officer, causing suspected ligament damage to his thumb, and shouted racial abuse at another officer. She received an eight-month prison sentence, suspended for a year, along with a probation supervision order and 100 hours of unpaid work.

Ms Dodds admitted to spraying a personal attack deterrent spray into the faces of two constables. She was given a 10-month prison sentence, suspended for 18 months, a probation supervision order, and ordered to complete 50 hours of unpaid work.

Hampshire Police had deployed officers to the town on 22 September to facilitate peaceful protest and ensure community safety. The attacks happened as police tried to move protesters to a designated area.
