Josh Mantle, from Stourport, Worcestershire, is preparing to climb Mount Snowdon multiple times over a 24-hour period, entirely barefoot. The 20-year-old will begin his challenge at 01:00 BST on 11 October.
Mr Mantle aims to complete at least three ascents and descents of the Welsh mountain, describing it as the "hardest challenge of [his] life." He was inspired by another barefoot climber he encountered on Snowdon.
The fundraiser is in aid of KEMP Hospice, a charity based in the Wyre Forest. Mr Mantle has already raised £1,500, surpassing his original target of £500, and has now increased his goal to £2,000.
To prepare for the event, Mr Mantle has been conditioning his feet with rubbing alcohol and training on Mount Snowdon with added weight. He stated that his biggest battle during the challenge will be mental, but he will focus on raising funds for the charity.
