Xpeng, a Chinese automotive manufacturer, plans to launch its new G9L battery electric and range-extended luxury SUV in Europe. The vehicle is scheduled to make its European debut at the Paris Motor Show in October.
The G9L is presented as a more premium version of Xpeng's G9 SUV, which is already available in certain European markets. Joan Melenchon, Creative Design Director at Xpeng, stated that the G9L was conceived as a premium SUV that avoids visual excess, instead emphasising its proportions, finish quality, and design language.
Yeqing Zheng, Vice President and General Counsel at Xpeng, indicated that technology will be crucial to the company's international expansion. Xpeng aims to offer a distinct experience, particularly in assisted driving, and plans to introduce more cars to markets like the UK, where its G6 model is already available.
Zheng also highlighted Xpeng's broader ambitions, stating that the company sees itself as a technology business at its core, rather than solely an EV company. Xpeng is exploring how physical AI can be applied across various products, including electric vehicles, robots, and flying cars, as part of its interest in future mobility.
