Downpours and thunderstorms are expected to continue across parts of the UK on Wednesday, bringing a risk of flooding. The Met Office has issued a yellow warning for thunderstorms, valid from 03:00 until 22:00 BST, covering much of the Midlands, parts of northern, eastern, and southern England, as well as the far east of Wales.
Heavy rain could lead to flash flooding and travel disruption, with lightning and large hail also posing hazards. Some locations could experience 20-30mm of rain within an hour, with a possibility of 40-50mm accumulating over a few hours.
A further Met Office yellow warning has been issued for Thursday, with more thunderstorms anticipated across mostly England and Wales. This warning is valid from 06:00 until 22:00 BST. Widespread rainfall totals of 20-30mm are expected within three hours in the warning area, and some areas could see 50mm within the same timeframe.
For some areas that have received minimal rain this August, the upcoming days could bring the wettest weather in many weeks. Northern Ireland is also expected to see some showers, though less intense, while many parts of Scotland are likely to remain dry with sunny spells, apart from some showers in the south-west later.
