A Yorkshire estate agency, Dacre, Son & Hartley, has reported a significant increase in agreed home sales over the summer. The firm saw a 32% rise in sales in August compared to the same month last year. This follows a 12% year-on-year increase in July.
These figures cover the agency's 17 offices across North and West Yorkshire. Patrick McCutcheon, head of residential at Dacre, Son & Hartley, noted that buyer activity initially picked up at the start of 2026, with a noticeable increase in January and February.
McCutcheon stated that price growth eased during the second quarter, particularly at the upper end of the market, which helped attract buyers. He believes that motivated buyers and sellers are now choosing to proceed with moves rather than waiting for greater certainty, prioritising their housing needs.
The agency also noted that new instructions remain at healthy levels. McCutcheon expects this additional stock to generate further buyer interest during September and October, traditionally busy months for the agency.
