YouTube introduces Amazon product tagging for US creators to earn commissions

YouTube has announced that eligible creators in the US can now tag Amazon products in their content, enabling them to earn a share of sales.

  • Eligible US creators can tag Amazon products in Shorts, long-form videos, and livestreams.
  • The new feature allows creators to earn commissions from sales of tagged Amazon products.
  • YouTube's systems can automatically identify and tag eligible Amazon products in creators' uploads if enabled.

YouTube announced on Thursday that eligible creators in the U.S. can now tag Amazon products directly within their content. This update allows creators to receive a commission from sales generated through these tags.

Creators can link Amazon products in their Shorts, long-form videos, and livestreams. This integration aims to provide a more direct revenue stream for creators and places Amazon's marketplace within the video platform.

While only eligible U.S. creators can currently tag Amazon products, these tags are visible globally. YouTube states it may automatically match a tagged product with a local merchant offer to allow creators to earn commissions on eligible international purchases.

To qualify, creators must be enrolled in YouTube's Partner and Shopping Affiliate programs, possess an active Amazon Influencer or Associates account, and link it to their YouTube channel.

Why this matters: This development creates a new direct revenue stream for eligible YouTube creators through product recommendations.
