Zack Polanski has announced he will continue as Green Party leader even if he is unsuccessful in the Holborn and St Pancras by-election. Speaking to the Guardian while canvassing in the north London constituency, Polanski described the Greens as underdogs but expressed confidence in his ability to defeat Labour.
The seat became vacant after Keir Starmer resigned as MP, having previously won it with a majority of more than 11,000 in the 2024 general election. Starmer announced his departure from parliament last Tuesday, following his resignation as prime minister in June.
Polanski is not yet formally the Green Party candidate for Holborn and St Pancras, but local members are anticipated to select him. He has been actively campaigning in the constituency, including joining volunteers in King's Cross over the weekend, marking his fourth visit to the area in a week.
