Ainsworth to make first Scotland start as Bonar returns to squad

Scrum-half Ceitidh Ainsworth is set to make her inaugural start for Scotland Women in Saturday's WXV Series clash against New Zealand. Ainsworth, who debuted off the bench in the recent 64-26 defeat by Canada, replaces clubmate Rhea Clarke in one of four changes made by interim head coach Dave Butcher.

Experienced lock Sarah Bonar also makes a return to the match-day squad, marking her first appearance since the 2025 Rugby World Cup. Bonar is expected to earn her 52nd cap from the bench as she returns from injury.

Other changes to the starting line-up include Holland Bogan, who makes her second start for Scotland, Eva Donaldson on the openside flank, and Anne Young at loosehead prop. The match will take place at Hive Stadium.
