The US's main trade regulator and 22 states have filed a lawsuit against Amazon, alleging the online retailer "secretly and systematically overcharged" advertisers on Amazon.com. The lawsuit was filed on Monday, 31 August 2026.

Andrew Ferguson, the FTC chair, stated that Amazon had millions of advertising customers who were misled into paying significantly higher prices. He added that these higher costs were largely passed on to American consumers.
