A 17-year-old girl from North Carolina has been charged with murder by aiding and abetting after allegedly recording a livestream of a shooting at a San Diego mosque and disseminating the attackers' white-supremacist writings.

Forsyth County District Attorney Jim O’Neill announced on Monday that the girl, who was arrested last week, was indicted by a grand jury on three counts of murder and one count of conspiracy. Her name was not released during the news conference.

The charges carry the same penalties under North Carolina law as if the girl had committed the attack herself, Mr O'Neill stated. He added that the individual was responsible for recording the livestream, disseminating information, and publishing the attackers' manifesto.

The shooting at the Islamic Center resulted in the deaths of security guard Amin Abdullah and two other men. The attackers, identified as Cain Clark, 17, and Caleb Vazquez, 18, reportedly took their own lives nearby after exchanging gunfire with the security guard, who initiated a lockdown protecting 140 children.
