Andrew Mountbatten-Windsor has initiated legal action against Thames Valley Police, seeking to quash search warrants that preceded his arrest. A judicial spokesperson confirmed that a private High Court hearing is scheduled for Thursday.
The former Duke of York has been granted permission to challenge the lawfulness of the searches. His application for a judicial review was reportedly made earlier this year and recently approved by a High Court judge.
Mountbatten-Windsor intends to challenge the legality of warrants that allowed police to search his residence on the Sandringham estate and his former Windsor home, Royal Lodge. The private hearing will also determine whether to release certain court documents related to the judicial review.
He was arrested on his 66th birthday on suspicion of misconduct in public office. This relates to allegations that he shared sensitive information with convicted child sex offender Jeffrey Epstein during his tenure as the UK's trade envoy.
