Former England winger Andros Townsend has made light of a bizarre incident in Thailand where he was run over by a pitch roller while warming up for a match on Saturday night. The 35-year-old, who plays for Thai League 1 club PT Prachuap, was reportedly struck by the vehicle after a staff member at Pattani appeared to lose control.

A clip of the incident emerged on social media, showing Townsend's left leg briefly getting stuck under the roller. Despite the unusual pre-match event, the 13-cap England international was able to feature off the bench later in PT Prachuap's 3-0 victory.

Townsend later took to Instagram, joking that his previous visits to Stoke's stadium "wasn't so bad after all," referencing a recent post where he contrasted a sun-drenched Thai away trip with Stoke. He also replied "trust me" with laughing emojis to a post describing him as 'The King of Memes in Thai League history'.
