Great Britain has been crowned World Team Cup champions for the fifth time, following a 2-1 victory over defending champions Japan in Florida. The winning moment came as Alfie Hewett and Gordon Reid triumphed in the deciding doubles match.
Hewett and Reid secured the title with a dominant 6-1 6-2 win against Japan's Tokito Oda and Daisuke Arai. This marked the first time the final had come down to a deciding doubles match for the British pair.
Gordon Reid initiated Britain's strong start on Saturday, defeating Daisuke Arai 6-2 6-2. Although Alfie Hewett later lost his singles match to world number one Tokito Oda, he bounced back to secure the crucial doubles victory alongside Reid.
Reid expressed his delight, stating, "We're really happy to get the title back." Hewett added, "It's always a privilege to play for your country and there's been a great atmosphere and team spirit again this week between all the lads."
