New research indicates that a combination of over-the-counter antihistamines and the prescription anti-inflammatory drug colchicine could offer a small reduction in fatigue for individuals experiencing long Covid. This finding comes from a clinical trial led by University College London and University College London Hospitals.
Despite this potential development, researchers emphasise that the combination of drugs is not a cure for long Covid. Millions of people continue to live with the condition more than six years after the start of the Covid pandemic.
Immunologist Professor Danny Altmann from Imperial College London discussed this research and the ongoing challenges in understanding long Covid. He also mentioned upcoming studies that aim to provide further insights into the condition.
